Welcome to Amok
Amok is a place for artists to meet, experiment, share work, have conversations, and make things together. These Terms of Use explain the rules for using the Amok website and services. We’ve tried to keep them clear and straightforward. By creating an account or using Amok, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree with these Terms, please don’t use Amok.
Amok is an arts organization based in Seattle, Washington. Our online space gives artists a
place to focus on their work, talk with one another, share knowledge and resources, and
participate in the art scenes they inhabit.
In these Terms, “Amok,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Amok and the organization that
operates the Service.
“Service” means the Amok website, platform, online sessions, and related services.
“Content” means the things people bring into the space: artwork, writing, photographs, images, video, audio, messages, profile information, and other materials.
“You” and “your” mean you—the person using Amok.
Amok is currently for people who are 18 or older.
By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 and are legally able to agree to these Terms.
To participate fully in Amok, you may need to create an account.
Please give us information that is accurate and keep your account information up to date. Your login belongs to you, and you’re responsible for keeping it secure.
Please don’t pretend to be someone else, create an account for another person without their permission, or use someone else’s account.
If you think someone has gotten into your account without permission, let us know.
Amok is a shared creative space.
Artists need room to disagree, experiment, make mistakes, challenge ideas, and see things differently. At the same time, nobody should have to tolerate harassment, threats, intimidation, discrimination, or abuse in order to participate.
So, please:
We expect everyone to behave in a way that allows other people to participate.
Your artwork is yours.
Amok does not claim ownership of the artwork, writing, photographs, images, or other original work you create and share here.
When you upload something to Amok, you give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide permission to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute it as reasonably necessary to operate the Service.
In other words, we need to be able to show your profile image on your profile, display work you’ve chosen to share with other participants, store your files, and make the platform function.
That’s what this permission is for.
It does not give us ownership of your work.
If you share your work with other artists, remember that those people may be able to see, save, copy, or otherwise use what you make available to them. Share thoughtfully, particularly when something is private, unfinished, confidential, or not yet ready to leave the room.
Amok may offer online spaces for artists to work together—one-on-one or in groups.
These spaces are collaborative by design. That means other people may see your work, hear your ideas, respond to what you’re making, or contribute their own ideas and materials.
Amok can’t control everything that happens between people, and we can’t guarantee that every participant will behave perfectly. Please use your judgment about what you share and who you choose to work with.
If we record a session, photograph it, or otherwise capture audio, video, artwork, or conversation, we’ll let participants know and obtain any consent required by law.
We want Amok to remain a place where artists can actually make things.
Sometimes that means we have to step in.
If we receive a report or become aware of activity that violates these Terms or threatens the safety, dignity, or functioning of the community, we may remove content, limit access to features or sessions, suspend an account, or take other reasonable action.
We don’t promise to monitor every conversation, artwork, or interaction. We’re not watching
everything that happens here.

The Amok name, identity, website design, software, and materials we create belong to Amok or our licensors, unless otherwise indicated.
Please don’t copy, sell, modify, reverse engineer, or otherwise use those materials outside what these Terms or applicable law allow.
And please don’t use the Amok name or identity in a way that suggests we endorse something when we haven’t said that we do.
Sometimes Amok may point you toward another website, platform, or service.
Those places belong to other people. We don’t control them, and we’re not responsible for what happens there.
If you follow a link out of Amok, take a moment to read that service’s own terms and privacy policy.
We care about what happens to your personal information.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we store it, and when we may share it.
Please read it alongside these Terms before using Amok.
We’re making Amok for artists, and like any creative project, it’s going to change.
Features may be added, changed, paused, or removed. There may occasionally be downtime, bugs, maintenance, or other interruptions.
We’ll do our best to keep things running, but we can’t promise that Amok will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
We provide Amok “as is” and “as available,” to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We don’t guarantee that the Service will always work perfectly, meet every particular need, or produce a particular result. We also can’t guarantee the accuracy or reliability of everything other people share through the Service.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to take away any rights or protections that the law doesn’t allow us to exclude.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Amok and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, licensors, and service providers won’t be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of—or inability to use—the Service.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Amok’s total liability relating to the Service or these Terms will be limited to the greater of:
Some laws don’t allow certain limitations of liability. Where those laws apply, our liability will be limited only as far as the law permits.
You can stop using Amok whenever you want.
We may also suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe that someone has seriously or repeatedly violated these Terms, created a risk for other people or the Service, or if we’re required to do so for legal or security reasons.
When possible, we’ll try to give you notice and an opportunity to address the problem.
Sometimes, though, we may need to act immediately.
If your account is terminated, your permission to use the Service ends. Provisions that are meant to survive termination—including those concerning intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and disputes—will continue to apply.
Amok will change. These Terms may change with it.
If we make a material change, we’ll make reasonable efforts to give you notice before the new Terms take effect. We’ll also update the date at the top of this page.
If you keep using Amok after the updated Terms take effect, you’re agreeing to the new Terms. If you don’t agree with them, please stop using the Service.
Amok is based in Seattle, Washington, and these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
If we can’t resolve a dispute informally, it will be handled under applicable Washington law and by a court with appropriate jurisdiction.
We’d much rather hear from you than have a disagreement turn immediately into a legal battle.
If you have a concern about Amok, the Service, or these Terms, please contact us first:
We’ll do our best to understand what happened and work toward a reasonable resolution.
If a court decides that one part of these Terms isn’t enforceable, we’ll try to interpret or modify that part so that it can be enforced to the fullest extent allowed by law.
The rest of the Terms will continue to apply.
If we don’t immediately enforce one of these Terms, that doesn’t mean we’ve given up our right to enforce it later.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other terms we specifically incorporate, make up the agreement between you and Amok concerning your use of the Service.
